Hjellming Construction began operations in 1962 by Orlie Hjellming, focusing on remodeling projects, additions, and building beautiful new homes.

As Hjellming Construction has grown over the years, our services have expanded to also include small commercial building construction and computer drafting of all custom floor plans and additions.

Scott Hjellming purchased the business in 1988 from his father Orlie after graduating from Dunwoody Industrial Institute, and is proud to carry on Hjellming Construction's tradition of excellence. Hjellming Construction is one of the premier builders in the Sioux Falls area, ensuring that their customers have a comfortable and enjoyable experience, with an end product that is "uniquely yours". Along with their many new clients, Hjellming Construction works with a large database of return clients and referrals. A great testament of their commitment to quality service and construction!

Vice President

Cory Hjellming is the third generation to enter the business, and is Vice President of Hjellming Construction. He graduated from STI in 2008 with a degree in Architectural Engineering Design. Cory was named the 2019 Builder of the Year by the HBASE (Home Builder Association of the Sioux Empire).

Cory has volunteered as a Repair Affair team leader since 2018. He served on the Building Codes and Legislative Committees as well as the association Board and the Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation Board. Corey served as the 2019 Chair of the Workforce Development Committee and also the Remodeling Council of the Sioux Empire. He has been a very dedicated volunteer for the association’s various workforce efforts throughout the community.

Bryan Hjellming

Treasurer

Bryan Hjellming graduated from STI in 2013 with an Associates Degree in Entrepreneurship and Business Administration. He serves as Treasurer for Hjellming Construction.

Points of Pride

Hjellming Construction has won twenty Sioux Empire Home Builders Association Parade of Homes awards for their unique home designs.

Scott was nominated as the South Dakota Home Builder of the Year in 2007 and served on the Board of Adjustments for the City of Sioux Falls 2003-2009.
Cory is a National Delegate for NAHB (National Association of Home Builders).
Scott was inducted into the HBASE Hall of Fame in 2018.

He is a past member of the Board of Directors for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Scott, along with the HBASE, built the R.M.H.C. on the Sanford Campus. Hjellming Construction continues to be an active contributor to the R.M.H.C.

Cory is the 1st Vice President on HBASE and will be president in 2025.
Scott Hjellming was Sioux Falls Home Builder of the Year in 1999, President of the Home Builders Association of the Sioux Empire (HBASE) in 2002. He was awarded a Presidential Appreciation Award in 2006 and 2009 for outstanding contributions to HBASE. In 2023 Hjellming Construction was honored as a 60 year member of the HBASE.
Cory Hjellming currently serves on the HBASE Board of Directors and HBASE Care Foundation Board of Trustees.
